Label smart
What does "%NRV" mean?
That little percentage on your supplement label actually tells you something useful.
%NRV stands for Nutrient Reference Value. It shows how much of a nutrient one serving provides compared with a reference amount for an average adult.
For example, 100% NRV for vitamin C means one serving provides the full reference amount for the day. Some labels use %RENI (Recommended Energy and Nutrient Intakes), the Philippine reference set by the FNRI-DOST.
Use it to compare products and to avoid taking far more than you need from several products at once.
Labels also carry the FDA registration number and the reminder that food supplements have no approved therapeutic claims. This is general information, not medical advice.
Educational content, not medical advice. Food supplements are not medicines and should not be used to treat any disease. Ask a doctor or pharmacist about your own needs.
